Aparupa Jewellery has a rich history that traces back to 1930, when Jugal Kishor Barman, only 18 at the time, began his journey as a jeweller. Over decades, he built a reputation within Malda’s villages, including Aiho, Bulbuli, and Gandhinagar, earning the trust of many as a skilled craftsman and seller.

In 1991, Balaram Barman, Jugal’s son, fully took over the family business. His career began in 1980 while working alongside his father but truly flourished when he assumed full responsibility due to his father’s declining health. Upon renting a shop on BS Road, a bustling hub for jewellery in Malda, Balaram expanded the business beyond the villages into the town. His vision and hard work enabled him to eventually purchase the shop, making Aparupa Jewellery a recognized name for gold and silver jewellery, both in wholesale and retail markets.

Balaram’s strategic approach helped Aparupa Jewellery attract a loyal customer base from across Malda and beyond, establishing it as a trusted business. However, in 2010, Balaram faced health challenges, which led to sporadic closures of the shop. Although his two sons were young, his elder son briefly managed the business but later continued his education. The younger son, however, supported Balaram consistently in maintaining business relations in the villages, ensuring Aparupa Jewellery’s presence continued.

In 2024, Balaram remains actively involved, albeit on a limited basis, even at the age of 69. Now, his elder son, a graduate and digital marketing professional, has founded Blogrator Web Service and aims to uphold the family legacy by expanding Aparupa Jewellery’s presence online. The launch of the website symbolizes a new era for the business, bringing Aparupa Jewellery’s renowned quality and craftsmanship into the digital age for the next generation. This transition ensures that the family’s jewellery tradition endures, meeting the evolving needs of customers across both local and digital platforms.
